Suitability with Children: Yes, excellent with children
Suitability with Other Pets: Yes
Living Conditions: Can adapt to any living environment and will do well in an apartment or home with no yard

Intelligence: Medium to High

Common Ailments: Known for being a hardy breed, but may be prone to skin disorders, kidney problems, and liver disease.
Breed Characteristics: With a very perky, upbeat look on their faces, coupled with perky pointy ears, bright eyes, and a long beard framing the muzzle of a long face, it is hard to resist the Miniature Schnauzer. While they do have medium length wired haired coats, available in black, white, or silver, the coat is fairly easy to take care of and will only require regular trimming or shaving. Weighing an average of 13-15 pounds and standing 12-14 inches tall, this breed is extremely hardy for its size, as well as energetic.

Most owners fall in love with the Miniature Schnauzer not only because they make great companion dogs, but also because they just have a lovable personality. Although they have a tendency to be strong willed, they are extremely loyal and affectionate with their owners. Of course their obstinate personality means they will let owners know if they are not receiving enough attention and especially love to be a part of the family. Despite their small size, they do love long walks and playing indoors. This breed is known for living quite a long time and almost never show signs of aging until later in life.
